If you’ve ever used Microsoft’s digital assistant, Cortana, you probably noticed a new feature in Windows 10, build 16299.150. Microsoft calls it “Focus,” and it allows your phone to behave like a PC. Or, in other words, it allows the phone to become a second display for your PC.

The latest Windows build, 22000.160, is a PC-only build that brings a lot of fixes and new features to Windows 10. Now, the latest iteration of the Windows Insider program has been released, and it’s building 12586.160, which is the first build to include a new feature called Focus sessions.

Microsoft just released a preview of a new update, Windows 11 build 22000.160, that brings not only the much-awaited Windows 10 style icons, but also a few new features to the operating system.  One of the most important is the new “Focus sessions” feature.  This allows you to create single-user Windows environments, which limit access to certain apps or the internet, and are intended for those who just need to get some work done.

  • 22000.160 is now available to all Insiders on both the Beta and Dev channels.
  • The Focus sessions feature has now arrived, much to the delight of everyone.
  • You should be aware that the enhanced Paint app was not included in this version.

We spoke last week about version 22000.132, all of the wonderful things it offers, as well as all of the problems that people have been experiencing.

The Windows Insider program has made this new experience accessible to users in the Dev and Beta Channels.

The seventh cumulative update for Windows 11 RTM Build 22000 is now out, and it contains few major changes, new features, or significant improvements.

A new patch named Cumulative Update for Windows 11 (10.0.22000.160) (KB5005189) will become available for download if you check for updates today.

With version 22000.160, focus sessions are now available.

Microsoft has published a new Windows 11 Insider Preview build for both the Beta and Dev channels.

Insiders in both channels have been getting the same builds for the last several weeks. However, version 22000.160 only includes a handful of basic enhancements, as well as the regular crop of bug patches.

The change to the Alarms and Clock app, which is now just named Clock, is one of the most significant new features.

The new Focus Sessions feature, which is part of the Alarms & Clock app was first teased by Microsoft’s Panos Panay a couple of weeks ago, and it’s meant to help users focus on a given task.

Concentrate Sessions, as we mentioned in a previous post, enables users to set a timer to focus on activities while listening to Spotify playlists from inside the app.

If you’ve been testing Windows 11, you may have noticed that before restarting your computer to install an update, it would inform you how long it expected it to take to restart.

That will only happen if you have an SSD rather than an HDD. However, Microsoft claims that this is just due to a few issues, and that the functionality will be available again in the future.

To be honest, there isn’t much else here that’s new, and one of the features that everyone was hoping for, Android app compatibility, has yet to arrive.

Given how close we are to the public launch of Windows 11, it may not arrive in time for the first public release. We also don’t have the new Paint app that was just teased.

Even the list of changes in Windows 11 build 22000.160 is short: it addresses an issue where you may see the location symbol on your taskbar despite disabling location access in the Settings app.

Microsoft introduced a new feature in Windows Update this week, dubbed “Focus.” It’s a new feature that allows users to run a task that’s active in their foreground, and block out all other windows. For instance, a user may be editing a document on their PC, and want to pay full attention to the document, while they send a quick email or check their Twitter feed. By enabling “Focus” in Windows Update, the update will run the “Focus” process in the background, and block out all other windows. No other applications will be able to run until the “Focus” process has completed, which means that the user won’t be bothered by other applications trying to access their PC..
