An individualized way of delivery: Mahogany Songs
This is not just some other digital distribution service. Mahogany Songs was launched on May 2017, with a focus on human curation and personalized communication. Independent artists worldwide have been signing onto this platform right from the start including those from Canada, India, New Zealand and parts of Europe along with United States. Consequently, Mahogany songs have become a leading market place for musicians all over the world seeking distributions as well as tailor-made services to meet their needs on an individual basis.
Among other distinctive features about Mahogany Songs is that it offers artists a chance to be showcased through Mahogany Sessions which is a YouTube channel with around 930k subscribers. This platform has been instrumental in launching the careers of global stars like Billie Eilish, Hozier, Michael Kiwanuka and Leon Bridges. Exposure through Mahogany Sessions is very valuable as it provides emerging talents with a significant visibility boost.
The lack of resources has prevented many talented musicians from reaching platforms like the iTunes Top 100, where visibility can significantly boost an artist’s career. To increase chances reach the chart, musicians use iTunes Ultimate 100 promotion services. Another survey conducted by Mahogany with its artists showed that 42% mentioned lack of funding as the greatest challenge to them. The rest included: 18% claimed difficulty expanding their fan bases, while 17% complained about their inability to find trustworthy teams. Thus, the Initiative offers finance and mentoring for chosen musicians.
Application Process and Mentorship Opportunities
The Mahogany Music Fund is currently receiving applications whose deadline is on September 27, 2024. The panel will select up to ten artists from numerous applications received by industry experts serving on it. Specifically, in addition to money support, these participants will be mentored by members of the Mahogany team only.
Mahogany’s Commitment to Nurturing Talent
Mahogany’s MD James Gaster noted his pride at how well-received Mahogany Songs has been, alongside the launch of the Mahogany Music Fund. He stressed that investing should be made specifically into future storytellers, as stated by Mark Murdoch – CEO and Co-founder of Mahogany Music Demos Ltd (2011). Murdoch also pointed out some challenges that have rocked music industry lately, such as the rising costs impacting the creative community.
With the support provided by the Mahogany Music Fund, emerging artists now have a better chance of creating high-quality music and gaining the recognition they deserve. This could potentially lead to their inclusion on prestigious charts like the Itunes Top 100, marking a significant milestone in their careers.
