Wearable tech is taking the world by storm, with a wide variety of products hitting the market in recent years. Many of these devices are aimed at improving our lives, but some are aimed at making money. We have scoured the internet to find the best-selling wearable tech, and put them into this list. If you are looking for a new set of fitness gear, or some unique tech to make you stand out from the crowd, this list is for you.
If you were to ask people which wearable technology they would have bought, you’d probably get a big variety of answers, from Fitbands to smartwatches, from NikeFuel to headbands. (And while we’re at it: why is it that when you talk about wearables, no one ever mentions smart food?) So how do you pick the best wearables? Well, we turned to our readers, asking them which wearables they thought were the best.
Wearable tech is an exciting new world, with an increasing number of products to choose from on the market. The fact that there’s a wearable for everyone, from the most casual wearable user to the extreme sports enthusiast, means that the options are now more diverse than ever. We’ve got the full gamut from your typical heart rate monitoring wristband, to sports wearables, the remote controlled drone and the interactive augmented reality glasses.
No. 1 Best Selling Wearable Tech of 2016: The Fitbit Charge 2 Heart Rate Plus Fitness Wristband
The new Fitbit Charge 2 rates no. 1 in THREE categories on Amazon – Running; Cycling Accessories; and Heart Rate Monitors. No wonder – it’s a slim little powerhouse, using PurePulse to automatically and continuously track your heart rate and figure out your calorie burn. Track your sleep; then be gently awoken by a silent vibrating alarm. You can pair the Fitbit Charge 2 with your phone to get smart notifications. And you can use it to plan how to improve your health. The connected GPS enables you to track your pace and distance as you exercise. And finally, the Fitbit Charge 2 will remind you to stop and breathe when your heart rate is less than calm. As someone who is working on being calmer and more conscious, I personally find this feature very useful. For those seeking all-round heath improvement in an attractive and affordable package, you can’t go far wrong with the Fitbit Charge 2. Not surprising it is the best selling wearable tech of 2016!
No. 2 Best Selling Wearable Tech of 2016: Garmin Vivoactive HR GPS Smartwatch
This is one of my personal favorites. I just like the chunky look of it (even though it is actually ultra-thin), plus all the features and ease of use – such as the fact you can see the display clearly in bright sunlight. It also happens to be on sale right now. The Garmin Vivoactive HR GPS Smartwatch ranks no. 1 in Amazon’s Running GPS units and in Handheld GPS units, and ranks no. 2 in Pedometers. Not too shabby! The popularity of the Garmin Vivoactive HR GPS Smartwatch stems from the fact that it offers tracking for such a wide variety of sports. You can use its color touchscreen to track your swimming, running, cycling, and golfing. Of course you can also pair it with your phone to get smart notifications. Best of all, it has great battery life – if you’re not using GPS, the battery will last for 3 weeks! Below is my video that shows unboxing my Garmin Vivoactive HR, plus how easy it is to set it up and connect it with your smart phone and any other fitness apps you are running. Note that before you can connect this fitness tracker to your phone, you do have to download the free Garmin Connect app to your phone. The latest version of the Garmin Connect app is very slick – great looking, and easy to customize. I have been using Garmin Connect for years, and am very happy with how great it has become. Plus it connects to all my other apps, such as My Fitness Pal and Apple Health. Bear in mind however that the Garmin Vivoactive HR is quite a big watch – it is slightly longer and thicker than an Apple watch. If you have tiny, petite wrists, you may be better off with a smaller fitness tracker, such as our #3 pick, the Fitbit Alta.
No. 3 Best Selling Wearable Tech of 2016: Fitbit Alta Fitness Tracker
The Fitbit Alta Fitness Tracker ranks as the no. 1 best seller in fitness trackers AND activity trackers. And it’s also no. 3 in Fitness Technology. There are good reasons for the massive popularity of the Fitbit Alta Fitness Tracker. Fitness trackers are supposed to motivate, and that is exactly what the Fitbit Alta Fitness Tracker does. Unlike many of these devices (including the Apple Watch), this device is smart enough to automatically know when you are exercising. One thing I find really frustrating about my Apple Watch is that when I forget to tell it I am exercising, it often doesn’t seem to know. Not so with the Fitbit Alta Fitness Tracker! As with all Fitbits, you can track your sleep, and be gently awoken with a silent, vibrating alarm. Sleep is a badly underrated but very important aspect of health. If you’re planning to improve your health, the foundation has to be getting enough sleep. The Fitbit Alta Fitness Tracker can help with that! It’s also easy to keep your Fitbit Alta Fitness Tracker looking good, as there are a range of different bands available for it. And you can keep it on in the shower!
No. 4 Best Selling Wearable Tech of 2016: Fitbit Blaze Smart Fitness Watch
My personal top favorite, I believe. I analyzed one of these for weeks, and I still feel a bit sad remembering the moment when I had to put it in a box and send it back. I kind of LOVED that Blaze. And I’m not the only one. It’s the no. 1 best seller in Men’s Smartwatches. I have a full analysis of the Fitbit Blaze here. In short, it’s comfortable, it looks great, and it does everything you could want a fitness tracker to do. The Blaze also has a neat feature: you can pop the watch easily in and out of its strap, which means that you can buy different straps for it and achieve different looks – much like an Apple watch. All of these fitness trackers offer excellent value for money, and will motivate you or your loved one to be more active and healthier. And they look good too!
No. 5 Best Selling Wearable Tech of 2016: Sennheiser HD 202 II Professional Headphones
Most of Sennheiser’s headphones are very good quality for the price. This set is the no. 1 best seller in over-the-ears headphones because it combines good quality sound with an extremely low price for a set of quality stereo, dynamic, hi-fi headphones. Sennheiser HD 202 headphones do a great job of excluding ambient sound (noise-cancelling), and are comfortable and lightweight. They are recommended for DJs, and should do an excellent job for those who want music while on the move or in the office. They are also valued by users for being rugged and robust, so that, for example, they can survive being carried around in kids’ school bags. In short, simply the best entry level headphones you can buy, for a great price. If you have never experienced over-the-ears sound (vs. in-ear sound), treat yourself by trying a pair of these Sennheiser headphones. Finally, the Sennheiser two-year warranty makes it hard to go wrong with these headphones. See also our in-depth analysis of Sennheiser HD 280 PRO headphones.
No. 6 Best Selling Wearable Tech of 2016: Hussar Magicbuds Bluetooth Headphones (Wireless)
These are the no. 1 best seller in the category of in-ear, Bluetooth headphones. The reason is that they look a whole lot like Beats headphones, and many customers think they sound very nearly as good – but at a fraction of the price. They are also very good at cancelling out the noise around you. Finally – they offer excellent battery life, which is crucial for those on the go with their music. Nothing worse than your headphones dying on you right when you are in a noisy workplace or transit!
No. 7 Best Selling Wearable Tech of 2016: Bose QuietComfort 35 Wireless Headphones, Noise Cancelling
These are rated no. 2 best seller overall in all headphones, and also make the best seller list in home audio and theater. These are not cheap, but are recommended for those willing to spend money to cancel out almost all noise around them, and to experience superb comfort, exceptional sound quality, and great build quality. Customers rate these headphones as being as close to perfect as you can get – for example, “awesome,” “excellent,” and “best headphones, period.” They also offer great battery life. And of course, they’re Bose!
