  1. Press Windows + X to open the Win+X menu and select Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. When you invoke the command line, enter the following commands:
    • w32tm / Troubleshooting / Shutdown
    • w32tm /Registration
    • w32tm /Registration
    • start w32time-only
  3. If all went well, you should see that the Windows Time Service is working. Window time service has been successfully launched.
  4. Close the command line and try to synchronize the clock.

Do you not have access to the command prompt as an administrator? Check out this guide.

5. Disable third-party firewall

Run a system check for errors

Press Start Scan to find problems with Windows.

Press Repair Everything to fix problems with proprietary technologies.

Run a PC scan with Restoro Repair Tool to find errors that cause security problems and slowdowns. Once the scan is complete, the repair process replaces the damaged files with new files and Windows components.

Firewall tools are always useful because they prevent potentially dangerous applications from accessing the Internet. Unfortunately, sometimes these tools can interfere with the clock and cause this error.

To fix this error, temporarily disable the firewall and see if that fixes the problem. If the problem persists, you should remove your firewall completely.

Users have reported that after setting the firewall to default mode or disabling it completely, they were able to sync their clocks without any problems.

In addition, you must configure your firewall to allow NPT to access UDP port 123. If you have changed your router’s firewall configuration, you may also need to enable UDP port 123 on your router.

Do you need to configure your router? With this software you can easily change all settings.

Check if the firewall is blocking a port or an application by following the few steps in this guide.

6. Change default refreshment interval

  1. Press Windows + R and type regedit.
  2. Press Enter or OK key.
  3. When the registry editor starts, navigate to the following key in the left pane:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesW32TimeProvidersNtpClient .
  4. Double-click on the SpecialPollInterval button.
  5. Select Decimal from the Basic field.
    • By default, the data should be set to 604800.
    • This number represents 7 days in seconds, but you can change it to 86400 to represent 1 day.
  6. Then click OK to save your changes.

Sometimes these errors can occur because of the update interval, but you can easily fix this error by changing some values in your registry.

We should warn you that registry changes can cause system stability issues if you don’t perform them correctly, so you should make a registry backup as a precaution.

Don’t you have access to the registry editor? Read this guide and solve the problem quickly.

7. Add additional servers to thedirectory

  1. Open the Registry Editor and navigate to the following key in the left pane:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionDateTimeServers
  2. Several values should appear in the right-hand pane. Each server is represented by a number.
  3. To add a new time server, right-click on an empty field and choose New > String Value.
  4. Enter the correct number as name, in our case it’s 3 because we already have 3 servers, and double click on it.
  5. Enter the address of the server in the Value field. Users have reported that the tick.usno.navy.mil server works for them, so you can add it if you wish.
  6. Click OK to save your changes.
  7. Not necessary: You can add as many servers as you want by following the steps above. As for the servers, you can add as many as you want:
    • tim-a-nis-gv
    • tim-bi-nist-gov
    • 128.105.37.11
    • europa.pool.ntp.org
    • clock.isc.org.
    • northamerican.pool.np.org
    • time.windows.com
    • tim.n-nist.gov

Once you have added servers to the registry, go to the time and date settings and select one of the added servers. For more information on changing the time server, see the detailed instructions in Solution 2.

8. Change values in register

  1. Open the Registry Editor and navigate to the following key in the left pane:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesW32TimeConfig
  2. Double-click MaxNegPhaseCorrection in the right pane and set the Value Data to ffffff.
  3. Click OK to save your changes.
  4. Double-click MaxPosPhaseCorrection and set the Value Data to ffffff. Click OK to save your changes.
  5. Close the registry editor.

Can’t you change your register? Check out this step-by-step guide!

Users have reported that you can solve this problem by simply changing two values in your registry. Then try resynchronizing your watch. Before trying this solution, it’s a good idea to back up your registry in case something goes wrong.

An error that occurs when Windows synchronizes with time.windows.com may prevent you from synchronizing your clock, but you can easily fix this problem by changing the time server or by using one of our other solutions.

If you have any other questions or suggestions, feel free to ask in the comments below.
