There was a time when it was very time consuming and frustrating to go from one place to another. It was just a matter of expediency. Public transportation was the only way to get where they wanted to go, most people didn’t care about their comfort and private cars were considered a luxury.

But the scenario changed completely with the arrival of Uber in the market. Uber made it easy for people to book a trip with just a few simple keys on their smartphone.

Now people don’t even want to wait to move. You don’t want to compromise on convenience and comfort. They are happy to have transportation services that allow them to easily pick them up at home and drop them off at their desired destination.

The growing human need for transportation has led to the development of rail-based applications.

Numerous pick-up and drop-off platforms offer transportation services that facilitate the pick-up and drop-off of customers at the desired destination.

The constructive introduction of intelligent devices implemented with GPS has made platform driving advantageous, efficient and attractive to drivers.

The market for transport services has made a great leap forward in the past year. The vehicle market enables customers to make direct calls to a vehicle service via GPS satellites and smartphones. Uber & Lyft are two major players in the transformation space: Uber has more than 70% of the market, while Lyft has about 30% of the users by 2020.

More than 78 million riders have used Uber to book rides each month. This represents a 42% increase from the second quarter of 2020.  Uber is a popular carpooling application with total net income of approximately $14.1 billion in 2019.

About 6.9 billion tours have been offered through the Uber application, and in the first quarter of 2020, the hiking giant booked about $26 billion in gross bookings worldwide.

After the success of Uber, many giants in the taxi industry have entered the race and are now fighting against Uber.

Check out the list of Uber’s main alternatives to see how they work to meet the growing market demand.

Lyft

Lyft, based in San Francisco, is one of Uber’s biggest competitors. It is present in over 644 cities in the United States and 12 cities in Canada. Lyft is the second largest carpooling platform after Uber, with a market share of over 30% in the United States alone. As in some areas, Lyft is banned in some regions.
Lyft has partnered with the Sixt brand to give users access to commuter rideshare in South Florida. Most rental cars are operated and owned by Sixt, which operates in over 85 locations across the United States. The carpooling agency receives a commission for every trip booked through its platform. Lyft’s business strategy and business model are very different from Uber’s.

The driving giant is taking an increasingly cautious approach, especially in the allocation of drivers, to ensure the safety of passengers.
